Turley Bridge opening at St Andrew’s College in Christchurch

15 November 2017

The Chapel at St Andrew’s College is located in the north eastern corner of the campus; separated by a stream - St Alban’s Creek - it stands alone amongst beautiful trees on what can be perceived as a ‘serene island’.

On Friday 27 October a special ceremony was held to officially open the new Turley Bridge – named after the Turley family, the generous donors who made this project possible.

Replacing an old narrow arch bridge, the Turley bridges generously connects the Chapel and its surrounding garden across the stream to Strowan House and the rest of the campus.

The opening of this bridge completes the Centennial Chapel project which started in 2012 when the college organised a competition to replace the irreparably damaged Memorial Chapel.
