Sustainability

Architectus places sustainability at the heart of our projects and our business operations. The built environment plays a major role in the human impact on the natural environment and the quality of life.

We actively engage in research and development of processes to ensure that we continuously improve environmental performance and energy - ultimately enabling the creation of healthier environments that contribute positively to our world.

Sustainability is traditionally understood to involve three dimensions, of financial, ecological and social sustainability. For us, these dimensions are fundamentally intertwined and we know that exceptional ESD buildings have excellent outcomes for both human health and whole-of-life costs.

Our Environmental Management System framework accords with the international standard ISO 14001 and we have experience across current international sustainability rating systems, including LEED and Green Star.  Currently there are a number of Australian Green Star Accredited Professionals across the Architectus group.

We have delivered numerous innovative and sustainable design projects such as 1 Bligh Street Sydney, which achieved a world leadership 6 Star Green Star rating. From the outset of each project we consider the fundamental principles of orientation, natural daylight and passive ventilation to generate buildings that can breathe.

We engage with our clients and consultants to develop strategies around whole-of-life costs, energy efficiency, water sensitive design, waste management, materiality, daylighting and air quality optimisation, transport and alternative transport facilities.
