Queenwood School for Girls

The Queenwood School for Girls at Mandalong Road, Balmoral has been an important part of Balmoral's history and community for over 75 years. The new school replaces the old buildings to enable the school to provide a high quality education environment for future generations.

The new building is designed to contain the music and drama schools as well as general purpose class rooms, a library, an auditorium and associated administration areas.

The building is designed to respond to the site as well as the view lines of neighbouring properties. The creation of an inner pedestrian ‘street' provides clear circulation and legibility while maintaining important connections with the unique surroundings of Balmoral.

Environmental initiatives are used to passively heat, cool and light the building. They also provide an educational role to produce an advanced environmental consciousness within the school.Innovation is combined with character, environmental responsibility and social ethic. The design fulfils the needs of the school as well as the requirements of the community of Balmoral.
